Volunteering at Ings Primary School
Volunteers are an invaluable asset to our school and without their help, many school activities could not take place. The contribution that volunteers, both parents and members of the community, make to the school is greatly valued and appreciated.
Parent Volunteers make a big difference in improving standards and improving a child’s experience of school. Parent volunteers may be able to help on a regular basis and commit to a time slot each week. This time can vary from half an hour to half a day at most. Parents will not work in their child’s classroom and will be expected to follow school protocol and policies.
If any parent has a skill that they feel could be useful to school, e.g. an artist, musician or author, please let the school know by emailing . All help is readily accepted.
We have opportunities for members of the local community wishing to volunteer at our school. This includes grandparents, work experience students and adults seeking educational settings to support their studies. As part of the application process, you will need to supply two references and undertake an informal interview with the Head teacher or Assistant Head teacher as part of the application process. All applicants are welcome.
It is the school policy to require ALL volunteers working in school to obtain Disclosure and Barring Enhanced Clearance (formerly known as CRB clearance). If you do not have this already, you’ll be asked to fill out a straightforward form which is sent off for processing – the check takes 4-6 weeks.
At Ings we ask for a £20 contribution towards the cost of the Disclosure and Barring Enhanced Clearance application which will be refunded after the completion of 6 sessions in school.
