Congratulations to Ings Primary School - Eco Schools Green Flag Award #3

Congratulations!!!

Fantastic work Mr Bell and the Eco Team at Ings.

We are very pleased to tell you that you and your Eco-Committee at Ings Primary School have been successful in meeting the requirements for the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award.

We reviewed your application and noted the following:

Thank you for sharing your meeting minutes with the Eco-Schools’ Team. They really helped to provide an insight into your Eco-Schools’ work, and the dynamics of your pupil-led Eco-Committee! The meeting minutes uploaded were impressive, providing a clear and concise record of the meeting. Our team would recommend recruiting additional adult support for your Eco-Committee (if possible). This will help share the workload whilst embedding and expanding your environmental initiatives even further.

Your comprehensive Environmental Review reflects your Eco-Committee's thorough assessment of the school's environmental footprint, providing an ideal foundation for developing an ambitious and impactful Action Plan. The chosen projects demonstrate a commitment to making a significant local environmental impact while fostering sustainable, long-lasting behavioural changes within the school community.

The curriculum link examples provided are demonstrative of a whole-school commitment to incorporating important environmental issues into your learning. One small note is we would have greatly appreciated a more detailed description of the curriculum link examples provided, so we can fully appreciate the valuable environmental learning opportunities you provide your pupils. Evidence of your Eco-Board is missing from your application, but it’s very clear that you have used a variety of methods to showcase and celebrate your environmental achievements throughout the year.

Your Eco-Committee have placed a lot of emphasis on informing as many members of your school community as possible about their Eco-Schools work. Your Eco-Committee successfully engaged the school community through meetings, assemblies, newsletters, and collaborative initiatives, developing a culture of environmental stewardship and awareness.

You’ve inspired enthusiastic young environmentalists who are excited about sustainability and empowered to make a difference, so it’s no surprise pupil engagement has been a highlight of your journey.

Your most significant challenge has been the lack of support for your environmental initiatives. However, we encourage you to persevere – attitudes can take time to change!

The Eco-Committee significantly enhanced the school's environmental sustainability through initiatives such as Zero Carbon Day, energy monitoring, tree planting, and community litter picks, encouraging an engaged and environmentally conscious community.

You have demonstrated creativity in creating a clever and unique Eco-Code! We love the acrostic poem used to spell out the ECO-KINGS. We hope it provides much encouragement to next year’s Eco-Committee! We’d love to see the Eco-Code displayed in more spaces to encourage more awareness and visibility of your Eco-Committee.

It has been an absolute pleasure reading through your application; it has certainly inspired and motivated our team!

Congratulations on your Eco-Schools Green Flag.

We can’t wait to see how you continue to build on your many successes next year.
